COVID 19: The Big Potential Trades Ahead [Video]

Recap: Another great interview with Mike Taylor - focused on the big asset allocation opportunities ahead as we look out over the 2H20 and into 2021.

Comment: Worth the ~1 hour to watch this free video. Mike has done a few interviews on Hedgeye over the past couple months, and his analysis (particularly around the coronavirus and the factors likely to out/under-perform) has been accurate and very informative. We’re looking at a resurgence of the first wave - which will create another set of opportunities ahead.

Blockchain

The Ethereum Opportunity [Audio]

Recap: Very informative interview with Chris Burniske on the future of crypto/blockchain, with a particular focus on Ethereum. He takes a step back and offers a high level view on the 3 main asset classes in the world, how crypto fits in, and the huge opportunities ahead by aligning incentives and tying labor/capital more closely together.

Comment: Burniske helps simplify the complex. Critical interview to listen to if you want an early look and better understanding of the huge financial opportunities ahead. Just like explorers (Columbus) and pioneers looked West for new opportunities (sick of the legacy/elites rule), the forward-thinking minds are focused on crypto/blockchain as the “digital” West - a “land” of amazing opportunity to rebuild the world in the right way.

Technology

The TikTok War [Article]

Recap: Useful Stratechery piece that delves into why TikTok is more than just a technology symbol, but rather embodies larger issues like US/China relationship - what makes TikTok so unique is that it is the culmination of two trends: one about humans and the Internet, and the other about China and ideology

Comment: Ben delves into the history of TikTok, humans preference of video over text, US/China tensions, and the broader battle for becoming the number one world superpower. The 5G buildout, blockchain, and autonomy are all modern day “space races.”
