Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend! Some great educational and fun (even fit Davey Day Trader in) content below. We are here to help educate, because the people in “charge” (Fed, government, etc.) certainly will NOT tell you what they are actually doing…. inflating assets they own (rich get richer), and devaluing your dollars. Wonder why the wealth gap has gotten worse at a faster rate? It all started in 1971 - we’ll be digging into that in an original content piece soon.
“Education, then, beyond all other devices of human origin, is the great equalizer of the conditions of men, the balance wheel of the social machinery.” - Horace Mann
Translation: If we ever want to help close the gap in equality, wealth, etc., we need to educate / learn. But it’s not just blindly “educating” using outdated curriculums that generally just help serve the current elite. It’s education around things like upcoming technologies, financial literacy, and relevant skill sets for the future. The system itself needs reform. Transparency and accountability are critical for a better path forward.
Finance
Investing in a Fed-Fueled Speculative Mania [Video]
Recap: Keith interviews Jim Bianco, a well-known and thoughtful macro research guy. If you want an update about what's going on - with the Fed, the devalued dollar, gold, etc. - this is worth the 60 mins
Comment: A combination of negative real interest rates, record levels of money printing, commission-less (free) trading, and nothing else to do (locked at home) has led to a large speculative equity bubble. If you're pressed for time, check out this clip from the interview - where Keith and Jim discuss the Davey Day Trader saga
Blockchain
Understand the Blockchain in Two Minutes [Video]
Recap: Literally a 2-minute, simple video that explains blockchain technology
Comment: Instead of looking at instagram for 4 hours a day, cut it to 3 hours and 58 minutes and fit this in. We are taking a step back and looking to help everyone get on the same page by understanding the basics / first principles. We truly believe this is one of the biggest technological revolutions of our lifetime, and we want to help our community better understand it
Technology
Tech and the new normal [Slide Deck]
Recap: Ben Evans updated his 2020 Tech trends deck in the middle of the pandemic (~June) - worth taking a step back and flipping through these slides. In addition, these top 10 Tech trends (Gartner, here) are a good quick read
Comment: Understanding trends in technology is not just important for investing, but it's critical in determining how to allocate your time - what jobs will go away in 5 years, what new jobs will there be, what skill sets should I be focused on? A few of many important questions. This virus/crisis just propelled us 5-10 years into the future - we aren't going back...
